WRANGLERS KICKER NESTOR “MANNY” HIGUERA & QUARTERBACK ANTHONY GARRETT EARN IFL PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS
PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. — Two Northern Arizona Wranglers players were selected by the Indoor Football League this week as Players of the Week for their amazing performances against the Knight Hawks.
Kicker Nestor "Manny" Higuera and quarterback Anthony Garrett both turned in remarkable performances as the Wranglers delivered one of their strongest outings of the 2026 season in an overtime thriller against the Vegas Knight Hawks. Their efforts did not go unnoticed, as Garrett was named the IFL Offensive Player of the Week and Higuera earned Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
Entering the matchup as heavy underdogs against one of the top teams in the Western Conference, Northern Arizona rose to the challenge and battled until the final whistle. In a game filled with momentum swings and explosive plays, the Wranglers pushed Vegas to the brink before ultimately falling by a single point, 71-70, in one of the most exciting games of the season.
Manny converted six PATs and knocked down not one, not two, not three, but FOUR deuces through the uprights, which ignited Wranglers Country all night long. Higuera accounted for 14 of the Wranglers' 70 points in the team's new highest-scoring game of the season.
Garrett had an electric performance, as he made incredible plays with both his arm and legs on Sunday. He threw for 171 yards and six touchdowns, while also adding 91 rushing yards and two scores on the ground. This was by far Anthony's best performance since he took over as the Wranglers ' signal-caller. The energy on SPE Systems field was palpable for both the team and fans.
This recognition was well deserved by both players, who were integral in the team's 70-point affair against the top team in the West. Garrett has established himself as a dominant starting quarterback who can be a dual threat at any point in the game. Higuera continues to be a deuce machine for the Wranglers and remains one of the league's top kickers. Both players are becoming fan favorites for Wranglers Country. The Wranglers will be back at home this Sunday to take on the San Diego Strike Force. Bottom of Form
