NORTHERN ARIZONA WRANGLERS @ SAN DIEGO STRIKE FORCE GAME PREVIEW (5.5.24)

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. — The Northern Arizona Wranglers will hit the road again this weekend, to take on the San Diego Strike Force on Sunday afternoon.

The Wranglers will be heading on the road for the second consecutive week, this time taking their talents to San Diego, Calif., to battle the Strike Force. The Wranglers have been on a roll in recent weeks, as they're riding a four-game winning streak. The Wranglers came back from Tucson, Ariz., last Saturday with a 34-31 victory. The Wranglers enter this week's matchup on Sunday with a 4-1 record on the season. The Strike Force started the season in dominant fashion, winning their first three games. After two consecutive losses against their in-state foe, the Bay Area Panthers, the Strike Force enter their showdown with the Wranglers holding a 3-2 record.

Northern Arizona is just hitting their stride early in the season, and only look to improve upon their three-game winning streak. The Wranglers offense has been averaging 45.6 points per game, which ranks the sixth highest in the IFL. Northern Arizona's also ranks sixth in the least points allowed on a per game basis. The Wranglers defense has forced both the most fumbles, and the most interceptions.

The Panthers are currently the top ranked team in the Indoor Football League's Western Conference, and San Diego lost each matchup to Bay Area by three points or less. San Diego had defeated Duke City, San Antonio, and Arizona in the weeks prior to the two losses to Bay Area. The Strike Force have been excelling on offense, through the air especially. Strike Force quarterback Nate Davis ranks second in passing touchdowns and yards, behind only Gunslingers quarterback Sam Castronova in both categories. Wranglers quarterback Joshua Jones ranks third in both categories just behind Davis.

The Strike Force will be hungry to get back in the win column after starting the season 3-0. The Strike Force have been a force in the Western Conference thus far, and the Wranglers are ready to rise to the challenge. San Diego's defensive unit led by former Wranglers defensive coordinator Jason Simpson has held opposing offenses to the least total yards allowed per game in the IFL. The Strike Force defense also has a few former Wranglers players, most notably defensive end JaQuan Artis. The Wranglers are four-and-a-half-point underdogs for this Sunday showdown in San Diego. The Wranglers will need a complete performance in all three phases of the game to get the win in enemy territory.
