NORTHERN ARIZONA WRANGLERS SIGN WIDE RECEIVER GENE COLEMAN II

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. — The Northern Arizona Wranglers have added another wide receiver to their roster, ahead the 2024 regular season, in Gene Coleman II.

Coleman II joins the Wranglers for his first season in the Indoor Football League. During the summer of 2022, Coleman II got to experience participating in training camp with the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League. Coleman II spent his collegiate career at the University of Delaware in Newark, Del. Coleman II showed stellar production for the Fightin' Blue Hens, posting 124 receptions for 1461 yards and seven touchdowns. Coleman II was also extremely productive returning kicks, as he racked up 548 return yards and averaged 19.5 yards per return.
 
During the 2020 season, Coleman II earned a selection to the Second Team All-Coastal Athletic Association squad. Coleman II was a team captain for most of his collegiate career. Coleman II also held a leadership position with the Social Injustice group at the University of Delaware, as this group consisted of student athletes among the entire athletic program. Coleman II earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Delaware in History with a minor in Africana Studies.
 
Coleman II is originally from Montclair, N.J., where he attended Bergen Catholic High School. After high school, Coleman II played football for one season at Milford Academy in New Berlin, N.Y. When asked what inspired him to play football as a kid, Coleman II responded by saying, "My dad was a big sports guy, he got me interested in all sports and when I played football, that was the one that really stuck with me." Coleman II is inspired to continue playing today by his love for the game and ability to continue playing. Coleman II explained by stating, "After going through the NFL process, I really wanted to keep playing football and not have to worry about the politics."
 
When asked about what he is looking forward to about joining the Wranglers, Coleman II responded by saying, "I am excited to the opportunity to play again, it has been almost two years since I last played in a game, I am looking forward to playing in front of the fans." What can Wranglers fans expect from Coleman II on the field? Coleman II stated, "My intentions are clear, I want to be considered one of the best players in the league." Coleman II expanded on this by saying, "I want to show what I am capable of and I love being a leader on a team, there is something about bringing players together to elevate both my game, and theirs."
