NORTHERN ARIZONA WRANGLERS SIGN DEFENSIVE END DEMARCO ARTIS

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. — The Northern Arizona Wranglers have added a defensive end to their roster, for the 2023 season, in DeMarco Artis.

Artis, 6'2", 230 lbs., will be playing his first season as a professional in the Indoor Football League with the Wranglers. Artis started his collegiate career at Baylor University in Waco, Texas, and played for the Bears for one season. Artis transferred to Junior College at Iowa Central Community College located in Fort Dodge, Iowa for one season. Artis then made the decision to transfer to the University of West Florida, and became a key player on the defensive side of the ball. Artis won a National Championship in 2019 with the Argonauts, alongside a familiar face within the Wranglers organization, wide receiver Quentin Randolph.

During that Championship season in 2019, Artis earned a spot on the First-Team All-Gulf South Conference squad, as a special teams/utility player. Artis had a highly productive senior season, in 2021, with the Argos, posting 37 total tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one pass defended.

Artis is originally from Sanford, Fla., and played football at Seminole High School.

Artis stated that from the first moment he stepped on a football field, "it felt natural." Artis has grown to love the sport, and studies the game, as he strives to model how he plays after elite NFL pass rushers such as Von Miller and Khalil Mack. Artis stated, "I try to learn and take different things from everybody that I watch, guys like LT (Lawrence Taylor). He was a dog on the field." Artis loves to get after the ball, and stated that he will be aiming to make the opposing IFL quarterbacks "shake when I'm coming for them."

Artis is eager for the opportunity to continue to elevate his career with the Wranglers, and feels that his NFL dreams are still well within his reach.

When addressing Wranglers Nation, Artis stated, "I will give my all every play, and I can't wait to get to work and hit guys on the field." Artis is excited for the opportunity to win a National Championship with the Wranglers, and he's hoping to help the team run it back in 2023.
