NORTHERN ARIZONA WRANGLERS SIGN DEFENSIVE BACK RONALD MALBROUGH JR.

PRESCOTT VALLEY, Ariz. — The Northern Arizona Wranglers have added a new defensive back to their roster, for the 2023 season, in Ronald Malbrough Jr.

Malbrough Jr., 6'1", 210 lbs., gained professional experience in the Fan Controlled Football League in 2022. In the FCF, Malbrough Jr. was the eighth leading tackler in the league. Malbrough Jr. also notched two pass breakups and two tackles for loss from the safety position. Malbrough Jr. is a versatile safety that was used in the FCF to defend the passing game, as well as coming into the box to stop the run.

Prior to his experience in the FCF, Malbrough Jr. played safety at Northwestern State University, which is located in Natchitoches, La. Malbrough Jr. graduated from Northwestern State with a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Technology. During his time on the field at Northwestern State, Malbrough Jr. developed his foundation as an adaptable safety.

Malbrough Jr. is originally from Lafayette, La., and later attended Cecilia High School, which is located in Breaux Bridge, La. Malbrough Jr. was inspired to play football by his father, who also played high school football at Cecilia. Malbrough Jr. explained that his father would reflect on his days on the field, and was inspired by his stories to get into the sport himself.

Malbrough Jr. continues to grow with the game, and "just fell in the love with the game." Malbrough Jr. expanded on this by stating that he doesn't want to stop the chase for the football now, after all he has sacrificed and worked hard for.

Malbrough Jr. stated that he is excited for a new opportunity, and a new environment, with fans packed into the arena close to the field. Malbrough Jr. highlighted the contrast in the environment, from the FCF, to the Indoor Football League, and is excited to get a taste of it with the Wranglers. "I am excited to meet my new teammates, and get to winning," stated Malbrough Jr. As far as playing in the IFL, Malbrough Jr. says that he is visualizing the indoor game, and how to attack it, while he stays grounded in his growth in football.
